What I’ve Been Up to Lately – It’s Exciting!

2019 was an interesting year! We lived in San Antonio, hung out with friends and family, but didn’t really take advantage of all that the city has to offer. While it was nice being in a beautiful apartment and getting settled in our jobs in San Antonio, we really missed traveling. We did take a great three-week road trip to The Great Smoky Mountains (more on that later!), but we wanted more.

So, we decided 2020 was our year of travel! We put all of our stuff in storage, and headed to Mexico for a couple of months. Then…the pandemic put a hitch in our plans. We had planned to be in Europe this summer, but well, you know the rest.

So, what do a couple of travelers do when they can’t travel internationally? The next best thing – buy and travel in an RV!

This little guy was hanging out on the RV while we were looking at it, so I took it as a good sign 🙂

I’ve always wanted to travel the U.S. in an RV, and couldn’t believe that Rueben wanted to, also! So far we’ve stayed in San Antonio, Del Rio, and a couple of places in New Mexico that you’ll hear about soon. Due to the pandemic we’ve social distanced / stayed away from people, and RV parks are the perfect place to do so, honestly.

Our first stop was at Lost Resort RV Ranch in far west San Antonio. It’s quiet, pretty, and close enough to both San Antonio and Castroville that we could still pick up groceries and explore.

This little guy rolled out with our awning!

The RV park is right next to the San Geronimo Creek.

Sunset over Medina Lake

We discovered an amazing park in Castroville where we saw deer at dusk and an owl! The park is beautiful and huge, so we never felt unsafe being close to people.

Spot the owl!

Tongue, or leaf?

We’ll definitely be back to this park; it was so beautiful! I’m glad that our first stop RVing was such a beautiful one. Next up – my hometown of Del Rio!

  1. Great pictures as usual! What are your NM stops? The two places you already mentioned are really great RV parks. Enjoy!!
